Yoshiya “Rocky” Watanabe, who has great skills in car building and restoration,
started building replicas of the 2000GT more than 10 years ago and recently announced that he will build 50 replicas of the 3000GT.
They developed a powerful chassis to drive the open-top version while maintaining the characteristics of the old car,
and used a 225-hp Supra 2J, which is an improvement over the original 2000GT’s engine.
Only 50 of these replicas will be made
Therefore, the car is a replica of a car from 60 years ago on the outside and a modern sports car on the inside.
Rocky digitized the original car to perfect its dimensions,
and only 50 of these cars will be made, making it even more valuable.
Replica cars present a few challenges for the average driver,
including the difficulty of reselling them after purchase and the low prices they fetch at auction.
Much cheaper replica car prices compared to original cars
There are many replica manufacturers in the wider automotive industry, and replicas of iconic cars are not uncommon in the industry.
The famous racing car, the Bugatti Type 35, costs around $750,000 for the original,
while replicas are available for around $250,000.
